Travelers might seek the City of Thorns in pursuit of secrets from the Tlanitlan Empire, especially their efforts to master the Shadow, draw power from the deceased, and manipulate the Planar Membrane. Their magical practices are believed to have torn their empire apart, and have almost vanished from the world.
